COLORS has expanded its fiction lineup with the launch of ‘Bareilly Ke Bacchan’, a family dramedy that brings together humour, chaos and everyday struggles through the lens of an unconventional household in Bareilly. The show premiered on June 8 and airs Monday to Friday at 9 pm on COLORS, while also streaming on JioHotstar.
Set in a crumbling house held together more by jugaad than stability, the series revolves around the Bacchan family, an all-male household where dysfunction has become a way of life. The absence of a woman’s presence in the home has left its mark not only on the family dynamics but also on the house itself, creating a backdrop for a story filled with comedy, emotional moments and relatable family conflicts.
At the centre of the story is Krishna, fondly known as ‘Bol Bacchan’, a driver by profession and an eternal optimist who dreams of finding a bride while seeing perfection in a home that is visibly falling apart. Alongside him are his brothers—Ganga, the eldest who quietly manages the household and often plays the role of caregiver; Satluj, whose constant frustration stems from the family’s unstable reality; and Mahi, the youngest sibling and a social media enthusiast who documents the family’s everyday madness. Presiding over them is Ajab Singh, the family’s alcoholic patriarch, who struggles to maintain authority despite losing control over much of his life.
The story takes a dramatic turn when Sangam unexpectedly becomes Krishna’s wife and finds herself entering a household unlike anything she imagined. Forced to navigate a home dominated by men and defined by constant improvisation, Sangam’s arrival brings fresh challenges and the possibility of change for the Bacchan family.
Produced by AORAA Pictures, the show stars Pravisht Mishra as Krishna, Ramneek Kataria as Sangam, Yashpal Sharma as Ajab Singh, Kinshuk Mahajan as Ganga, Ansh Manuja as Satluj and Sachin Jeet Singh as Mahi.
Speaking about his character, Pravisht Mishra said Krishna is a dreamer who often chooses optimism over reality and copes with life’s difficulties through stories and half-truths. He added that the character’s journey becomes particularly interesting when Sangam begins challenging his perceptions and forces him to confront truths he has long avoided.
Ramneek Kataria described Sangam’s entry into the Bacchan household as a dramatic upheaval, saying the character finds herself adjusting not just to a new family but to an entirely chaotic environment. She noted that the show explores the dynamics of a woman-less household while highlighting the often-overlooked emotional labour women contribute to family life.
Yashpal Sharma, who essays the role of Ajab Singh, said his character is a patriarch shaped by disappointment and loss. According to the actor, Ajab Singh’s stubborn pride and unconventional outlook make him both humorous and deeply relatable, adding a unique dimension to the family narrative.
Blending humour with emotional storytelling, ‘Bareilly Ke Bacchan’ aims to present a quirky portrait of family life, where resilience, relationships and resourcefulness take centre stage amid the daily chaos of the Bacchan household.
