In a significant step towards enhancing digital communication security, Truecaller has unveiled Secure Calls, a pioneering feature under its Truecaller for Business platform.
The new solution is aimed at tackling call spoofing, a growing threat in the age of digital fraud, by enabling businesses to make digitally signed, verified calls that offer real-time assurance of authenticity to users.
The launch marks an evolution from Truecaller’s existing Verified Business identity system to call-by-call verification.
Now, each call made by a business subscriber undergoes a secure backend handshake with Truecaller’s servers, confirming the call is genuinely initiated by the verified business and not a fraudster imitating the number. This enables the app to label the call explicitly as a “Secure Call” for the recipient.
“Spoofed calls erode trust and cause significant distress,” said Fredrik Kjell, Chief Operating Officer at Truecaller, “With Secure Calls, we’re offering call-level trust indicators that inform and protect users. It’s about giving both consumers and enterprises confidence in every single call.”
The visual differentiation of a Secure Call within the Truecaller interface is a key feature — ensuring that users immediately know the call is legitimate. These markers not only enhance user trust but also safeguard brand identity, preventing bad actors from misusing company names.
NoBroker, one of India’s most prominent property tech platforms, is among the first to adopt Secure Calls. Co-founder and CPO Akhil Gupta emphasized the feature’s role in customer trust, stating, “In an era where scams are evolving rapidly, protecting our customers is an essential trust driver. Secure Calls not only shields us from fraud but also allows us to deliver contextual messages to users, which boosts engagement and service prioritization.”
