Tamil cinema fans are in for a special treat this July as the much-anticipated film ‘Akkenam’, starring real-life father-daughter duo Arun Pandiyan and Keerthi Pandiyan, is all set to hit theatres on July 4.
Directed by Uday K, the film brings the two together on screen for only the second time after their critically acclaimed collaboration ‘Anbirkiniyal’.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Keerthi Pandiyan confirmed the release date and teased fans with more to come: “#Akkenam releases on July 4th in theatres. Trailer and audio from June 14th.” The announcement has sparked buzz among movie buffs, especially for the family collaboration, which adds a layer of emotional depth to the high-octane narrative.
Produced by Arun Pandiyan himself, along with Saravana Kumar and A K Sekar, ‘Akkenam’ promises to be a gripping action-packed entertainer. The ensemble cast includes Adithya Shivpink, Ramesh Thilak and GM Sundar, adding further depth to the film’s storytelling canvas.
Shot extensively across Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and key locations in North India, the film’s visuals have been crafted by cinematographer Vignesh Govindarajan with Barath Veeraraghavan composing the music. Interestingly, the background score has been recorded in a renowned studio in Europe, bringing an international touch to the film’s sonic experience.
Director Uday K, speaking about the film, said, “The story of this film will move at a blistering pace. We’ve built a narrative filled with emotional twists and intense action, supported by stunning visuals and powerful performances.”
