Netflix’s fantasy drama series ‘The Witcher’ will be returning with a fourth season on October 30 with Liam Hemsworth, the streamer announced yesterday.
Featuring Hemsworth in the role of Geralt of Rivia, the series is an adaptation of the fantasy novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, a PTI report from Los Angeles stated yesterday.
As announced in April by the streamer, season four is being shot back-to-back with a fifth and final season, which will complete the adaptation of Sapkowski’s books, according to a press release on the streamer’s website.
Meanwhile, what is season four all about? After the Continent-altering events of Season 3, Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri find themselves separated by a raging war and countless enemies. As their paths diverge and their goals sharpen, they encounter unexpected allies eager to join their journeys. And if they can accept these found families, they just might have a chance at reuniting for good.
Some new characters have been introduced in season four. Laurence Fishburne (‘The Matrix’ trilogy) joins the cast as Regis, a world-wise barber-surgeon with a mysterious past. Regis is a fan favourite in the Witcher books and games who will cross paths with Geralt in Season 4.
Then there’s Sharlto Copley (‘District 9’) as the infamous bounty hunter Leo Bonhart; James Purefoy (‘The Following’) as Skellen, Emhyr’s court advisor and high-ranking spy and Danny Woodburn (‘Watchmen’) as Zoltan, a fan-favourite dwarf from the books and games.
