‘Chiraiya’ has emerged as the most-watched non-franchise fiction title on JioHotstar, continuing its strong run with impressive viewership and audience engagement across the platform. The series has not only drawn large numbers but has also recorded high completion rates across multiple languages, underlining its wide appeal.
According to an Ormax Insights, the show’s performance reflects a deeper shift in audience behaviour, where engagement goes beyond just viewership. ‘Chiraiya’ has managed to sustain conversations among viewers, driven by its storytelling and emotionally resonant characters. The series has been widely described by audiences as “hard-hitting”, “necessary”, and “deeply impactful”, signalling a strong word-of-mouth push.
Since its release, ‘Chiraiya’ has connected with viewers across demographics, turning into more than just a streaming title and evolving into a cultural conversation. The show’s narrative has struck a chord with audiences who are not only watching it but actively discussing and sharing their perspectives, contributing to its growing traction.
Alok Jain noted that ‘Chiraiya’ stands as a strong validation of the platform’s focus on meaningful storytelling. He highlighted that what sets the show apart is not just the scale of its reach but the depth of engagement it has generated, with audiences completing the series and continuing the conversation beyond the screen.
Director Shashant Shah said the intent behind the show was never to play it safe but to spark dialogue. He added that the audience response, both in terms of viewership and engagement, reflects how deeply the story has connected with viewers.
Actor Divya Dutta also emphasised that while the show was never meant to be an easy watch, its honest storytelling has resonated strongly. She noted that the conversations it has triggered and the way audiences have stayed with the narrative till the end make the response particularly rewarding.
Adding to its achievements, ‘Chiraiya’ also topped the charts as the number one most-watched OTT show in India for the week of March 30 to April 5, 2026, according to Ormax. The performance further cements its position as one of the standout digital titles in the current streaming landscape.
