Production house Hombale Films has announced the second instalment in its ‘Mahavatar’ series, titled ‘Mahavatar Parshuraam’, expanding its mythological storytelling slate with a new chapter rooted in Indian lore.
According to a PTI report, the upcoming film is slated for a theatrical release in December 2027 and will be directed by Ashwin Kumar. The announcement was made by Hombale Films through a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, where the makers also unveiled the first poster of the project.
While specific details around the cast and storyline remain under wraps, the title indicates a focus on Parshuraam, one of the most significant and complex figures in Indian mythology, known for his warrior persona and spiritual depth. The film is expected to build on the broader vision of the ‘Mahavatar’ series, which aims to bring mythological narratives to the big screen with scale and cinematic ambition.
Hombale Films, known for backing large-scale and visually rich productions, has steadily expanded its portfolio across genres, and the ‘Mahavatar’ series appears to be a key part of its long-term content strategy. With ‘Mahavatar Parshuraam’, the studio continues to invest in stories that draw from cultural roots while appealing to modern audiences.
The announcement has already generated interest among audiences, especially given the studio’s track record and the growing appetite for mythological epics in Indian cinema. Further updates on the film’s cast, production timeline, and additional details are expected in the coming months.
