Larry Hryb, popularly known as ‘Major Nelson‘ on Xbox Live, has announced his departure from Microsoft after a 20-year tenure. Hryb expressed his decision to step back and embark on the next phase of his career.

In a tweet on Friday, he expressed gratitude to the millions of gamers worldwide who have welcomed him into their lives, as well as the Xbox team, for their trust in fostering direct communication with customers.

Hryb served as the director of programming for Xbox live, establishing himself as a prominent figure within the brand. His association with Microsoft began in 2001 as the editor-in-chief of MSN Music, but it was in 2003, upon joining the Xbox division, that he found his true identity with the company, IANS reported.

Throughout his time, he hosted Microsoft‘s Official Xbox podcast and consistently shared Xbox team updates with his extensive Twitter following of over 1 million users.

While Hryb has not disclosed his next destination, he intends to take a break to spend quality time with his family and enjoy the summer in Seattle, USA. reflecting on his future, he expressed excitement about witnessing the evolution of Xbox, embracing his passion as a gamer.
