Netflix has announced the highly anticipated directorial debut of acclaimed actor Luis Gerardo Méndez with the film ‘Technoboys,’ co-directed alongside Gerardo Gatica.
Known for his versatile performances, Méndez takes on not only the leading role but also a significant role behind the camera.
According to Netflix, ‘Technoboys’ follows the journey of the once-chart-topping boyband as they make a comeback after two decades to reclaim their throne in the cutthroat world of pop. The narrative weaves through challenges such as adapting to a changing world, the fear of cancellation, the resurgence of their techno-merengue rivals, and the undisclosed agenda of lead vocalist Alan.
Expressing his excitement about the project, Méndez stated, “From the moment I first read Technoboys, I knew I could tell this story, and that we had the perfect team to put it on the screen.” Reflecting on the collaborative nature of filmmaking, he highlighted the enriching experience of co-directing with Gerardo Gatica, his partner in Cine Vaquero.
Gatica shared his gratitude for Netflix’s trust in bringing this story to a global audience, saying, “I couldn’t be more excited or more grateful with the wonderful team at Netflix for putting their trust in us to bring this movie to millions of people worldwide.”
‘Technoboys’ is set to hit Netflix screens in 2024. With the combined talents of Luis Gerardo Méndez and Gerardo Gatica, the film promises to be a captivating cinematic experience, blending Méndez’s on-screen prowess with his newfound role behind the camera.
