Actor Charles Melton is in talks to play the popular character Kakashi Hatake in Lionsgate’s upcoming live-action ‘Naruto’ film.
Kakashi Hatake is one of the best-known characters from the ‘Naruto’ manga and anime series created by Masashi Kishimoto. He is a skilled ninja and teacher who is known by the nickname ‘Copy Ninja’ because of his ability to copy the techniques of other ninja. He is also known as ‘Kakashi of the Sharingan’.
According to a PTI report from Los Angeles today, the upcoming movie will be a live-action adaptation of Kishimoto’s ‘Naruto’ series, which follows the story of young ninja Naruto Uzumaki and his journey to become a powerful ninja.
The film is being directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for directing ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. Kishimoto is also involved with the project, giving the film a direct connection to the original manga.
If the casting talks are finalised, Melton will take on one of the most recognisable roles in the ‘Naruto’ universe. Melton is known for his performances in projects including ‘May December’ and ‘Riverdale’.
The ‘Naruto’ film is being developed by Lionsgate and is expected to introduce the popular franchise to a wider audience through a live-action movie.
