India Today launches AI-powered Tamil feed for Tamil Nadu election coverage

New Delhi, 19-May -2026, By IBW Team

India Today

India Today has announced a major regional expansion initiative for the Tamil Nadu General Elections 2026 counting day by introducing a live AI-powered Tamil feed of its English news broadcast. The move marks a significant step towards combining technology with regional news delivery to reach wider Tamil-speaking audiences across television and digital platforms.

According to an India Today press release, the network’s new Tamil feed will use real-time AI transcription and voice adaptation technology to convert English election coverage into Tamil while retaining the original tone and style of the anchors. The initiative has been developed in partnership with CAMB.AI, which powers the real-time language conversion and voice replication system.

The AI-enabled Tamil feed has been designed to offer viewers a seamless experience where they can follow election developments in their native language without losing the personality and delivery style of the original English broadcast. The company said the initiative reflects its larger vision of making national news more accessible to regional audiences through advanced technology.

To strengthen the reach of the Tamil feed, India Today has partnered with IBC Tamil, which has a digital audience base of over three million followers. As part of the collaboration, IBC Tamil will livestream the AI-transcribed Tamil feed of India Today TV during the election counting coverage, helping the network expand its digital footprint among Tamil-speaking viewers.

On the television front, the media network has also collaborated with Thanthi TV for a special cross-network integration during prime-time election coverage. Senior journalist and anchor Rajdeep Sardesai is set to appear live on Thanthi TV to discuss the election verdict and key political developments.

One of the key highlights of the collaboration will be the use of AI-powered voice adaptation during Sardesai’s appearance. His English speech will be converted into Tamil in real time while replicating his voice characteristics, allowing him to interact naturally with Tamil-speaking anchors on the channel. The integration is being seen as a unique example of how artificial intelligence can bridge language barriers in live television broadcasting.

The initiative comes at a time when election coverage is becoming increasingly competitive and audience-driven, with broadcasters looking for new ways to improve accessibility and viewer engagement. By combining AI technology with regional storytelling and strategic media partnerships, India Today is aiming to redefine multilingual election coverage in India’s fast-evolving news landscape.
