India TV has announced a significant programming change for its flagship news analysis show ‘Aaj Ki Baat with Rajat Sharma’. Beginning June 15, 2026, the popular prime-time programme will air at 8.30 pm, marking a new chapter in its long-running journey as one of India’s most-watched news shows.
The shift is part of the broadcaster’s strategy to strengthen its evening line-up with trusted and impactful journalism. ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ has built a strong reputation over the years for its sharp editorial perspective, fact-based analysis and comprehensive coverage of national issues, making it a staple for millions of viewers across the country.
According to an India TV announcement, the programme continues to enjoy remarkable audience traction. Citing BARC India (2+ India) data, the network said ‘Aaj Ki Baat’ has achieved a lifetime reach of more than 440 million viewers, underscoring its position as one of the country’s most influential news programmes. During 2025, the show reportedly generated an average of 38 million viewing minutes daily, reflecting sustained viewer engagement and loyalty.
The programme’s audience profile also makes it a highly attractive property for advertisers. India TV stated that 73 percent of its viewers belong to the 31-plus age group, while 57 percent come from premium NCCS A households, indicating a mature and affluent audience base.
At the centre of the show’s success is veteran journalist and broadcaster Rajat Sharma, whose decades-long career has made him one of the most recognised faces in Indian television news. Over the years, Sharma has witnessed and reported on some of the country’s most significant political developments, covering leadership transitions from former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to current Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as well as more than 150 national and state elections.
Beyond ‘Aaj Ki Baat’, Sharma is also known for hosting Aap Ki Adalat, widely regarded as India’s longest-running television interview programme. His influence extends into the digital space as well, where he commands a substantial following across social media platforms.
India TV believes the move to an earlier prime-time slot will allow viewers to access the programme’s analysis and insights at a crucial point in the evening news cycle. The network said the transition reinforces its commitment to delivering credible journalism and helping audiences better understand the day’s most important developments.
With the new 8.30 pm timing, ‘Aaj Ki Baat with Rajat Sharma’ is expected to continue playing a central role in India TV’s prime-time strategy while maintaining its strong connect with viewers seeking authoritative news analysis and perspective.
