Sony Pictures Networks India has acquired the worldwide rights for the Marathi-language romance ‘Toh Ti Ani Fuji’ (‘Main, Woh Aur Fuji’), with the film set for an exclusive direct-to-digital premiere on Sony LIV on April 10, 2026.
The network will also retain exclusive worldwide theatrical and linear rights for the film, underlining its continued focus on strengthening regional content offerings with global appeal.
Shot extensively across Japan and India, ‘Toh Ti Ani Fuji’ stands out as a rare Marathi romance set against an international backdrop. The film uses Japan not just as a visual setting but as an emotional landscape, mirroring the distance and complexity within the characters’ relationship. By blending an overseas setting with deeply personal storytelling, the narrative explores how love evolves over time, shaped by separation, ambition, and emotional change.
Written by Irawati Karnik and directed by Mohit Takalkar, the story traces the journey of a couple whose intense relationship gradually turns strained due to shifting priorities and emotional imbalance. Years after their separation, they unexpectedly cross paths again in Japan, reopening unresolved emotions and raising questions about whether love, altered by time and experience, can find its way back.
Producer Shiladitya Bora described the collaboration with Sony Pictures Networks India as a significant step in taking regional stories to a wider audience. He emphasised that the film reflects a belief that regional cinema is increasingly becoming mainstream, with stories capable of travelling across languages and geographies.
Director Mohit Takalkar noted that the film explores love beyond the idea of permanence, focusing instead on how relationships are shaped by modern realities such as work, ambition, and geography. He added that the intention was to create a story rooted in a specific setting but universal in its emotional resonance.
Lead actors Lalit Prabhakar and Mrinmayee Godbole also highlighted the film’s intimate portrayal of relationships. While Prabhakar described it as a reflection on love and rediscovery, Godbole pointed to the unique experience of filming in Japan, which added a global dimension while retaining the story’s emotional core.
With its multi-language release on Sony LIV, ‘Toh Ti Ani Fuji’ is positioned to reach audiences beyond its regional base, reinforcing the growing demand for culturally rooted yet universally relatable narratives in the digital streaming space.
