Seventeen-year-old economics student Rhea Bakshi’s debut documentary ‘India’s Treasures’premiered on JioTV, one of India’s largest OTT platforms, and JioTV+ as a special Independence Day feature on August 15.
The documentary recently received the New York International Film Awards’ finalist laurel, adding to its recognition.
Expressing her delight about the documentary’s premiere on Jio Platforms, Bakshi said, “I am thrilled beyond words that millions of JioTV and JioTV+ subscribers will be able to watch my documentary ‘India’s Treasures‘. They will witness the impact and contribution of talented Indian artisans, particularly women, in nation-building.”
Bakshi’s documentary aims to shed light on the value of Indian centuries-old craftsmanship, its cultural significance, and its role in India’s economic growth. She aspires to contribute to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mission of inclusive economic growth by raising awareness about Indian artisans and inspiring the next generation to preserve and enrich this unique tradition.
‘India’s Treasures’ was produced by 24 Frames Films Limited and can also be viewed on YouTube. The documentary, directed and presented by Rhea, daughter of seasoned media executive Rajiv Bakshi, takes audiences through the lives of artisans in Rajasthan, Jharkhand, and Old Delhi.
