In the wake of unprecedented rainfall and devastating floods that hit various districts across Gujarat, ZEE 24 Kalak has emerged as a beacon of vital information and effective coverage. The channel’s round-the-clock reporting not only raised awareness but also catalyzed immediate governmental action and relief efforts throughout the state.
ZEE 24 Kalak’s on-ground reporting played a pivotal role during the catastrophic floods in Vadodara, triggered by the overflowing Vishwamitri river. The channel’s real-time broadcasts included urgent video messages from authorities and breaking news alerts that guided residents in high-risk areas such as Karelibagh, Sayajiganj, Sama, and Harni to evacuate safely, the channel said in a press release.
By coordinating closely with the NDRF and the Army, the channel facilitated rescues and provided critical updates that prompted swift government action, including the restoration of vital routes like the one leading to the Statue of Unity.
Dixit Soni, Editor of ZEE 24 Kalak, emphasized the channel’s commitment by stating, “This was not just about covering a flood; it was about protecting our citizens. We worked tirelessly to provide up-to-the-minute information, ensuring that residents could make informed decisions. Our priority was to cover every aspect of this disaster – from early warnings to post-flood recovery – so that the people of Gujarat were never left in the dark.”
The channel’s impactful coverage extended beyond Vadodara to address the effects of Cyclone Asani in Dwarka, Jamnagar, and Kutch. ZEE 24 Kalak was the first news team in Mandvi, reporting on submerged homes and shops, including those of officials.
In Koteshwar, near the India-Pakistan border, the channel provided exclusive coverage of rescue efforts, showcasing the administration’s response to provide food, water, and shelter to stranded residents.
Karan Abhishek Singh, CEO of ZMCL, praised the channel’s role: “ZEE 24 Kalak has consistently upheld the highest standards of journalism. During the Gujarat floods, we went beyond reporting—we acted as a lifeline for many citizens. Our coverage not only highlighted dangerous conditions but also showcased the administration’s relief efforts. We played a crucial role in ensuring that help arrived when it was needed most, reflecting the power of responsible journalism in safeguarding communities.”
The channel’s marathon coverage, branded ‘Khadama Gujarat’, was instrumental in documenting infrastructure damage across the state. Detailed reports on poor road conditions in major cities and highways led to swift action from the Chief Minister, who ordered immediate repairs. In South Gujarat, particularly in Valsad, Navsari, Surat, and Bharuch, ZEE 24 Kalak provided life-saving updates and coordinated rescue efforts and aid distribution.
ZEE 24 Kalak’s reporting not only informed the public but also drove effective governmental responses, ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens during the crisis.
