Rohit Sharma has brought his big-hit appeal from the cricket field to television, with ‘Family Full House’ with Rohit Sharma recording a strong opening for Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI).
The new entertainment property registered the biggest launch day for any non-fiction show on Sony LIV after premiering on September 19. The show also trended at number one worldwide on X through Saturday evening, according to SPNI.
SPNI said the digital response comes after strong buzz around the show’s previews, which had already generated millions of views and engagements across social media ahead of the premiere.
Produced by Fremantle and based on the globally successful ‘Family Feud’ format, the show sees Sharma take on a television role that puts his personality and sense of humour at the centre, rather than his cricketing abilities.
His humour, spontaneity and easy chemistry with guests have emerged as key talking points following the premiere. Candid reactions and quick-witted exchanges give viewers a more relaxed glimpse of the cricketer away from the intensity and competitiveness associated with the sport.
The property is also being positioned as a family entertainment destination for brands, with multiple advertisers partnering with the show. These associations span SPNI’s television and digital platforms, along with contextual integrations designed to make brands part of the viewing experience.
Nachiket Pantvaidya, Chief Content Officer, SET, Sony Marathi and Sony LIV, SPNI, said the response to the show had been extraordinary, with audiences getting an opportunity to discover a different side of Sharma.
“Rohit is one of the world’s finest cricketers and enjoys a very special connection with audiences. Through this show, they are discovering his humour, spontaneity and natural warmth in an entirely new setting,” Pantvaidya said.
He added that the record launch on Sony LIV, along with the conversation generated across television and social media, had reinforced SPNI’s confidence in the format and its ability to bring families together.
‘Family Full House with Rohit Sharma’ airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9.30 pm on Sony Entertainment Television and streams simultaneously on Sony LIV.
The show marks SPNI’s latest effort to build a broad-based entertainment property around a familiar sporting personality, with Sharma bringing his off-field persona to a format centred on families, participation and entertainment.
