HT Media Ltd., publishers of The Hindustan Times newspaper and owners of Fever 104 FM radio station, yesterday reported a two-fold jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 39.41 crore for June quarter FY27 on a year-to-year basis.
It had posted a net profit of Rs 19.12 crore in July-September period a year ago, according to a regulatory filing from HT Media, a PTI report from New Delhi stated yesterday.
Revenue from operations was up 2.5 per cent to Rs 441.59 crore in September quarter FY27.
“In the second quarter of the financial year, your company consolidated the gains made in the first quarter and grew its consolidated revenue year-on-year with improved profitability, despite the shift in the festive season to the third quarter this year,” Chairperson and Editorial Director Shobhana Bhartia said.
Total expenses were at Rs 447.33 crore, marginally down in the second quarter of FY27.
HT Media’s revenue from ‘printing & publishing of newspapers and periodicals’ was up 8.19 per cent to Rs 385.75 crore.
“Print continued to anchor the company’s performance, with advertising revenue growing year-on-year across both our English and Hindi titles,” Bhartia said. However, higher newsprint costs, compounded by the rupee’s depreciation amid global uncertainty, exerted some pressure on margins, Bhartia said, adding that these factors remain important considerations for the coming quarters.
Revenue from ‘radio broadcast and entertainment’ was down 22.7 per cent to Rs 24.88 crore.
Similarly, its revenue from ‘digital’ was down 29.9 percent at Rs 28.23 crore on a YoY basis. The segment had a “modest sequential improvement” in both revenue and profitability.
Its total income, which includes other income, was up 5 per cent to Rs 501.71 crore in Q2/FY27.
In the first half of FY27, the total income of HT Media was at Rs 998.67 crore, up 9.64 per cent.
