Amazon Prime Video’s crime drama series ‘Raakh’ has made a strong debut on the streaming platform, attracting 22.43 million unique viewers during its opening weekend, according to data released by Chrome DM COTT, India’s OTT audience measurement platform.
The viewership figures cover the period between June 12 and June 14, 2026, marking the first three days since the Ali Fazal-starrer premiered on Prime Video. The impressive opening highlights the continued popularity of crime-thriller narratives among Indian streaming audiences.
According to the data, male viewers accounted for the majority of the show’s audience, contributing 14.64 million viewers or 65 percent of the total reach. Female viewers represented 7.79 million viewers, accounting for the remaining 35 percent.
The series witnessed particularly strong traction among young adults. The 25–35 age group emerged as the largest audience segment, with 6.07 million male viewers and 3.42 million female viewers tuning in during the opening weekend. The 18–24 male demographic also delivered significant numbers, contributing 4.31 million viewers.
Industry observers believe the show’s performance reflects the growing demand for gritty, character-driven crime dramas on OTT platforms. With Ali Fazal leading the cast, ‘Raakh’ appears to have struck a chord with audiences across both metro cities and smaller markets.
The regional distribution of viewers further underlines the show’s nationwide appeal. Markets outside the top tracked regions collectively accounted for 10.94 million viewers, indicating substantial consumption across India’s non-metro and emerging digital markets.
Among the key states and regions, Maharashtra led the viewership chart with 3.32 million viewers, followed by Uttar Pradesh at 2.53 million and Delhi NCR at 2.30 million. Karnataka and West Bengal contributed 1.80 million and 1.53 million viewers respectively.
Commenting on the performance, Dr. Pooja Shrivastava, Group Head – Data Sciences at Chrome DM, said the opening weekend numbers highlight the sustained appetite for crime drama content on streaming platforms.
“With 22.43 million viewers in just three days and strong engagement from the 25–35 age group, the data points to a well-targeted content strategy. The broad geographic spread, especially beyond the top metros, further demonstrates the growing reach of premium OTT content across India,” she said.
The strong start is expected to bolster Amazon Prime Video’s content slate and reinforce the platform’s position in India’s increasingly competitive streaming market. The coming weeks will reveal whether ‘Raakh’ can sustain its momentum and join the ranks of the year’s biggest digital hits.
