COLORS is set to deepen its family drama slate with ‘Mahadev & Sons’, a new daily show that delves into the fragile balance between love, trust and betrayal across generations. Set against the spiritual backdrop of the temple town of Hardoi, the series brings to life a story born from forbidden love and shaped by the consequences it leaves behind.
‘Mahadev & Sons’ follows the extraordinary rise of Mahadev, an orphan who enters the influential Bajpai household as a servant and goes on to become one of the town’s most respected and wealthy men. His life takes a defining turn when he falls in love with Vidya, his master’s daughter. Their relationship costs Vidya her family, identity and inheritance, forcing the couple to rebuild their lives from scratch with dignity, discipline and an unshakeable belief in family values.
What begins as a tale of sacrifice gradually transforms into the portrait of a close-knit household where routines, rituals and shared moments form the foundation of togetherness. Mahadev emerges not just as a successful businessman, but as a devoted husband and a proud father to five children, firmly convinced that a family must work, worship and celebrate as one. Yet beneath this harmony lies an unresolved wound from his past that continues to shape his decisions.
Living across from Mahadev’s family is Vidya’s elder sister Bhanu, whose lingering resentment casts a long shadow over their carefully built world. Haunted by the price he paid for his own love story, Mahadev lays down one rigid rule for his children: love marriages are forbidden. While the rule keeps the family united on the surface, it quietly suppresses their desires, especially those of Dheeraj, the youngest son and the one most likely to challenge his father’s authority.
Produced by Saurabh Tewari’s Parin Multimedia Pvt Ltd, the show stars Shakti Anand as Mahadev, Sneha Wagh as Vidya, Manasi Salvi as Bhanu, and Aasim Khan as Dheeraj. Speaking about the project, Tewari said the story was conceived from the belief that every family has a distinct emotional character, and that the narrative was designed to evolve over time rather than offer quick resolutions. He described the show as one that different generations can watch together and see reflections of their own lives.
Shakti Anand, who essays the role of Mahadev, said the character is not a conventional television patriarch but a man who has earned his authority through struggle and restraint. Sneha Wagh described Vidya as the quiet pillar of the family, holding everyone together with compassion, while Manasi Salvi called Bhanu a complex character driven by wounded pride and a sense of betrayal.
With a strong ensemble cast and a story rooted in emotional conflict rather than spectacle, ‘Mahadev & Sons’ promises a layered look at family, legacy and rebellion.
The show airs every Monday to Friday at 9.30 pm on COLORS and streams on JioHotstar.
