HistoryTV18 is set to premiere ‘World War II With Tom Hanks’, a 20-part documentary series, on September 1 at 9 PM.
Presented by two-time Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks, the series will revisit the Second World War through rare archival material, historical accounts and stories of soldiers and civilians.
According to a HistoryTV18 press release from Mumbai today, the documentary covers the war from Germany’s invasion of Poland through the rise and fall of the Axis powers and the conflict’s aftermath.
It will explore major battles including Stalingrad and Normandy, along with the Holocaust, civilian resistance, espionage, code-breaking and the role of industrial power during the war.
The series will also look at the decisions of major wartime leaders, including Winston Churchill, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler and others, while focusing on the experiences of people affected by the conflict.
‘World War II With Tom Hanks’ has Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Jon Meacham among its executive producers.
The series will premiere on September 1, coinciding with the anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939. Following the premiere, new episodes will air every Monday and Tuesday at 9 PM on HistoryTV18.
