India has secured a place in the VALORANT main event at the Esports Nations Cup (ENC) 2026 after an impressive campaign in the Asia regional qualifiers. Showing resilience and composure under pressure, the Indian team battled through the lower bracket to emerge as one of only two teams from Asia to qualify for the prestigious global esports competition, which will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later this year.

According to a press release, India’s qualification came after a remarkable turnaround following an early setback in the tournament. The team, led by in-game leader Sagnik Roy, popularly known as Hellf, showcased determination and consistency to earn its place among the world’s best national VALORANT teams.

VALORANT at ENC 2026 will be held from November 8 to 15 and will feature 32 national teams competing for a prize pool of USD 1.5 million (approximately Rs 14 crore). The Esports Nations Cup itself will take place from November 2 to 29 in Riyadh. While 16 countries received direct invitations based on performances in official Riot Games competitions, the remaining spots were decided through regional qualifiers conducted across multiple regions worldwide.

The Asia regional qualifier featured nine teams competing in a double-elimination format. India entered the competition with a roster comprising Hellf, Abhirup Choudhury (Lightningfast), Aman Yadav (Hoax), Venkatesh Sharma (Venky) and Daivik Chauhan (Dc). Norbu Tsering (Karam1L) and Shravana Sahoo (Techno) were named as substitutes, while Abhishek Bajaj (GodspeedxD) served as coach. The team was assembled under the guidance of NODWIN Gaming, India’s National Team Partner for ENC 2026.

India started strongly with a commanding 13-2 victory over Nepal in the upper bracket quarterfinals. However, the team suffered a 5-13 defeat against eventual qualifier Japan in the semifinals, pushing them into the lower bracket and leaving no room for error.

Facing elimination, the Indian side responded with a series of clutch performances. They defeated Pakistan 13-9 in the lower bracket quarterfinals before overcoming Mongolia 13-10 to book a place in the lower bracket final. The decisive encounter against Hong Kong became India’s most convincing performance of the tournament. The team claimed the opening map 13-10 and followed it up with a dominant 13-6 victory in the second map, sealing a 2-0 series win and confirming qualification for the main event.

One of the standout performers during the qualifiers was Venkatesh Sharma, better known as Venky. He finished the campaign with 117 eliminations across six matches, the highest tally recorded by any player in the Asia regional qualifiers, underlining his importance to India’s success.

The qualification run also attracted significant attention from esports fans. More than 100,000 viewers tuned in through official ENC broadcasts and co-streams to watch the Asia qualifier finals, which featured Japan’s unbeaten run and India’s impressive lower-bracket comeback.

Reflecting on the achievement, Hellf said the qualification was significant not only for the team but also for the growth of India’s VALORANT ecosystem. He noted that after the loss to Japan, the team focused on taking one match at a time and credited every player for stepping up under pressure. He added that international opportunities such as the Esports Nations Cup help strengthen the competitive scene and inspire future talent.

The tournament format for VALORANT at ENC 2026 will begin with a round-robin group stage featuring four groups of eight teams each. The top four teams from every group will advance to a 16-team single-elimination playoff bracket. Group-stage matches will be played in a best-of-one format, while playoff matches will be best-of-three, except for the Grand Final, which will be contested as a best-of-five series.

India’s qualification in VALORANT adds to the country’s growing presence at ENC 2026. The nation has already secured participation in Chess and Trackmania. Grandmasters Nihal Sarin and Mitrabha Guha have qualified for the Chess event, while Trackmania player Kunal Upreti, known as Spark, has also earned a place at the competition.

India’s focus now shifts to additional qualification campaigns. The country’s DOTA 2 team is currently competing in regional qualifiers, while the Rocket League squad will begin its qualification journey in July. The MOBA Legends: 5v5! team also remains in contention for a direct invitation, with regional qualifiers scheduled for August if required.

With qualification now secured, India’s VALORANT team will head to Riyadh carrying the hopes of a rapidly growing esports community and an opportunity to test itself against some of the strongest national teams in the world.
