The International Cricket Council (ICC) and JioStar have jointly dismissed recent media reports questioning the status of the ICC’s media rights agreement in India, stating that the partnership remains fully intact and operational.
In a JioStar press note issued on Friday, both organisations clarified that the existing media rights agreement continues to be in full force, and that JioStar remains the ICC’s official media rights partner in India. The statement underlined that reports suggesting JioStar’s withdrawal from the agreement are incorrect and do not reflect the position of either party.
The note further said that JioStar is fully committed to honouring its contractual obligations “in letter and spirit,” and that there is no change to the agreed terms. Preparations for upcoming ICC events are progressing exactly as planned, with no impact on viewers, advertisers, or industry partners.
Both ICC and JioStar emphasised their shared focus on delivering uninterrupted, world-class coverage of major global cricket tournaments for fans across India. This includes marquee events such as the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, one of the most anticipated fixtures on the international cricket calendar.
The statement also highlighted that the two long-term commercial partners remain in regular communication on operational, commercial, and strategic matters. These discussions, it said, are centred on strengthening the partnership and leveraging it to contribute to the growth of the sport in the country.
By issuing the clarification, ICC and JioStar sought to put to rest speculation around the media rights arrangement and reassure all stakeholders that the broadcast and coverage plans for upcoming ICC events remain firmly on track.
