American tech giant Google is working on a new feature and has started live translated captions for Google Meet.
The new feature will make the communication process smoother between people from different countries, speaking different languages, ANI reported from Washington.
Notably, the tech giant has already introduced real-time video call transcriptions in 2019 and now it is testing live translated captions.
In a blog post, Google said, “Translated captions help Google Meet video calls to be more global, inclusive and effective by removing language ability as a barrier to collaboration. By helping users consume the content in a preferred language, you can help equalize information, sharing, learning, and collaboration and make sure your meetings are as effective as possible.”
However, live translated captions are currently available only for selected workspace editions or tiers in the beta program and it can be enabled only by filling out a form provided by the tech giant.
The service is available for workspace editions such as Business Plus, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Teaching and learning upgrade, and Education Plus.
As of now, live translated captions support translation of spoken English into French, Spanish, German and Portuguese languages.
