Shashank Walia’s ‘Birds in the Dark’ and Tamil writer-director Sailesh Rathnakumar’s debut film ‘Selvi’ have been selected to premiere at the Busan International Film Festival. The two films are among the Indian films selected for the prestigious international film festival.

‘Birds in the Dark’ is set in Punjab and follows a disillusioned police agent and an accused man. The two characters find an unexpected connection and develop a bond amid a growing farmers’ movement.

According to a PTI report from New Delhi today,the film explores themes of love and human connection against the backdrop of social unrest. It presents a story focused on the relationship between two people caught in a challenging situation.

‘Birds in the Dark’ is produced by Reema Kaur along with Hansal Mehta and Sahil Saigal. The film has been produced under the banner True Story Films.

‘Selvi’ marks the debut of Tamil writer-director Sailesh Rathnakumar. Its selection alongside ‘Birds in the Dark’ gives Indian cinema a presence at the Busan International Film Festival and brings two Indian films to an international audience.
