The Trailer Making Competition Delhi Roadshow took center stage at Gurutegh Bahadur 4th Centenary Engineering College last week, marking a crucial stop in the lead-up to the nationwide Trailer Making Competition grand finale.
Organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Reskilll, with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and Netflix as key partners, this initiative has been a game-changer for aspiring filmmakers and content creators across India, a MIB press release stated yesterday.
The competition, supported by the Netflix Fund for Creative Equity as part of WAVES 2025, offers a unique opportunity for participants to master the art of storytelling and trailer production. Designed as an intensive three-month cohort, the initiative equips budding filmmakers with hands-on experience in video editing, content creation, and cinematic storytelling techniques. Using Netflix’s extensive content library as inspiration, contestants are encouraged to create captivating trailers that showcase their creative vision and technical skills.
The Delhi Roadshow at GTB4CEC proved to be a dynamic and engaging event, drawing a diverse group of participants from college students to working professionals. Attendees received practical training in green screen editing, color correction, and advanced video production techniques, helping them refine their craft. The roadshow also featured a Creative Challenge, where participants were given themes to develop engaging trailers on the spot. The event concluded with a panel of industry experts evaluating submissions and providing valuable feedback, further enhancing the learning experience.
A key highlight of the event was the presence of Dhruv Mathur, Senior Video Editor at Reskilll, who shared his expertise and insights on how to create compelling trailers that resonate with audiences. His session provided an in-depth understanding of industry trends and best practices, inspiring participants to push their creative boundaries.
As the competition nears its climax, excitement is mounting among participants, with over 3,200 registrations already recorded worldwide. Contestants stand to receive various forms of recognition and rewards, including Certificates of Participation for all valid trailer submissions and Certificates of Excellence for the top 50 entries. The top 20 finalists will be honored with trophies, exclusive merchandise, and a chance to attend the WAVES Summit, where they will showcase their work and interact with industry leaders.
With registrations open until March 31, 2025, the competition continues to attract passionate filmmakers eager to make their mark in the industry. The Delhi Roadshow has not only amplified the enthusiasm around the event but has also reaffirmed the transformative power of storytelling and video editing.
As the grand finale approaches, the stakes are higher than ever. The competition is poised to unearth India’s next generation of filmmakers and video editors, offering them a platform to showcase their talent on a national stage. The road to WAVES 2025 is set, and for these aspiring storytellers, the journey is just beginning.
