BIG FM‘s purpose-driven initiative, ‘BIG Green Ganesha,’ has successfully concluded, leaving a positive impact and paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future.
The initiative, now in its 16th year, aimed to promote eco-friendly celebrations during the auspicious festival of Ganesh Chaturthi across various cities and encouraged listeners to take steps toward sustainability.
The campaign, spanning across states like Maharashtra, Hyderabad, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Bangalore, embraced a holistic approach to eco-consciousness. It included a range of activities to promote sustainability and encourage eco-friendly celebrations.
In Mumbai, BIG FM ensured that all decorations, dishware, cutlery, and prasad boxes provided to devotees were sustainable. Listeners were encouraged to become ‘Bappa ke Eco-Bhakt’ through on-air guidance, accolades for eco-conscious devotees, and innovative demonstrations.
A plastic collection drive in collaboration with the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) was conducted, resulting in the repurposing of collected plastic into five benches for installation in residential societies. Several prominent figures, including Hema Malini, Esha Deol, and others, supported the campaign. A beach clean-up drive was also organized by popular BIG FM RJs for a greener end to the celebrations.
Sunil Kumaran, COO, BIG FM, expressed satisfaction in the growing awareness and active participation from listeners and partners in fostering eco-conscious festivities. He emphasized the network’s dedication to environmental consciousness and a brighter future for generations to come.
In Hyderabad, the focus was on creating eco-friendly Ganesha idols from newspapers, clay, and dry grass. In Pune and the rest of Maharashtra, BIG FM collaborated with NGOs to support underprivileged children’s education and encouraged listeners to donate to this noble cause. In Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, the campaign emphasized the use of environmentally friendly materials for decorations and prasad boxes, in addition to green idols. In Bangalore, activities included crafting eco-friendly Ganesha idols, sharing insights about renowned Ganapati temples, and hosting devotional shows.
BIG Green Ganesha was extensively promoted across on-air, social media, and digital platforms of the radio network, emphasizing its commitment to driving positive change and contributing to a sustainable future through eco-conscious celebrations.
