Megastar Amitabh Bachchan, known for his versatility and deep-rooted connection with Indian storytelling, has made his much-anticipated Gujarati film debut with ‘Unfiltered Naari’, a project that celebrates womanhood in its raw, real, and unapologetic form.
Originally conceived in Gujarati, the film has now been made accessible to a wider audience through a Hindi-language release.
The move comes after overwhelming demand from audiences beyond Gujarat, eager to witness Bachchan in a language crossover role. The Hindi version aims to amplify the film’s universal themes while preserving the emotional nuance and regional charm of the original. At its core, ‘Unfiltered Naari’ is a tribute to the everyday Indian woman — layered, resilient, and fiercely authentic, an IANS report stated.
In the film, Amitabh Bachchan essays a pivotal narrator’s role — not as a central protagonist, but as the voice of wisdom and reflection that guides viewers through interwoven stories of five women, each facing a turning point in their lives. From rural entrepreneurs to urban mothers navigating patriarchy, ‘Unfiltered Naari’ moves across geographies and generations.
The film has been produced under the banner of Taarak Mehta Studios in association with Colors Gujarati and marks a shift towards more inclusive, pan-Indian storytelling that retains regional flavor while appealing to a broader audience. Directed by Krishnadev Yagnik, known for his sensitive handling of female-centric narratives, the film blends realism with lyrical storytelling.
In a statement, Bachchan expressed his joy over the film’s journey: “Stories like Unfiltered Naari are both intimate and expansive — they hold up a mirror to our society. Language should never be a barrier to emotion, and I’m happy that the film is now reaching more hearts through its Hindi release.”
With its multi-platform rollout, ‘Unfiltered Naari’ is now streaming in both languages across select OTT platforms and is also scheduled for a television premiere later this month.
