Oscar-winning Mexican filmmaker Alfonso Cuaron is working on a new psychological horror series, ‘Ascension’, for Apple TV plus. The series will star ‘Outlander’ actor Caitriona Balfe in the lead role.
According to a PTI report from Los Angeles today, the one-hour drama is based on Adam Nevill’s novel ‘Last Days’. It follows Rose, a documentary filmmaker and recently divorced mother who spends her time uncovering the truth about other people but finds it difficult to deal with her own problems.
Rose starts investigating a mysterious cult called the Church of Ascension, which was formed in the 20th century. During her investigation, she becomes interested in the group’s teachings and begins to find comfort in them.
However, Rose soon discovers that the cult has a much darker side. Her search for answers leads her into a dangerous mystery as she tries to uncover what is really happening behind the Church of Ascension.
Caitríona Balfe will play Rose, the main character in the series. She is widely known for her role as Claire Fraser in ‘Outlander’.
‘Ascension’ will be a psychological horror drama that combines mystery and suspense. The series will explore Rose’s investigation into the cult while also focusing on her personal struggles.
