BBC Player is celebrating 100 years of the life and legacy of renowned naturalist and documentarian David Attenborough this May with a specially curated collection of his landmark works, highlighting his decades-long contribution to natural history storytelling.
The celebration, presented by BBC Studios, brings together some of Attenborough’s most iconic documentaries, including ‘Planet Earth’, ‘Blue Planet’, and ‘Frozen Planet’. The curated selection reflects his long-standing collaboration with BBC Earth and his role in shaping global nature documentary filmmaking.
The showcase aims to revisit and honour Attenborough’s ability to bring the natural world into living rooms across the globe. Through these documentaries, audiences are offered a chance to rediscover the richness of ecosystems, while also witnessing the evolution of factual storytelling over decades. The collection highlights both visual innovation and scientific narration that have become synonymous with his work.
In addition to the flagship series, the lineup also features titles such as ASIA, which explores the continent’s diverse wildlife for the first time in a major BBC wildlife series, and Mammals, which delves into the evolution and survival strategies of mammalian species across the planet. These works further expand on Attenborough’s exploration of biodiversity, from the smallest creatures to the largest marine life.
Other notable inclusions in the collection are ‘Dinosaurs: The Final Day with David Attenborough’, ‘Extinction: The Facts’, and ‘Seven Worlds, One Planet’. Each of these documentaries offers a distinct perspective on Earth’s ecosystems, examining themes ranging from species adaptation to environmental change across continents.
The special programming will be available throughout May on BBC Player via Tata Play Binge and Amazon Prime Video India through add-on subscriptions, giving audiences access to a comprehensive celebration of Attenborough’s enduring legacy in natural history storytelling.
