Apple Original Films has announced the title and release date of its upcoming documentary on the legendary music band Fleetwood Mac. Titled ‘Fleetwood Mac: The Chain’, the documentary will premiere globally on Apple TV on January 29, 2027.
According to an Apple press release yesterday, the film is the first-ever fully authorised documentary in which Fleetwood Mac tells its story in its own words. It will be directed by five-time Academy Award nominee Frank Marshall and will feature the memories and perspectives of band members ‘Mick Fleetwood’, ‘John McVie’, ‘Christine McVie’, ‘Lindsey Buckingham’ and ‘Stevie Nicks’.
The documentary will cover the band’s more than 50-year journey, from its recordings and tours to the personal struggles and challenges faced by its members. It will also feature exclusive new interviews and previously unseen footage, offering viewers a closer look at the band’s history and music.
The title ‘Fleetwood Mac: The Chain’ comes from the band’s hit song ‘The Chain’, which appeared on its 1977 album ‘Rumours’. The song is the only track on the album credited to all five members. The documentary’s premiere will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the album’s release.
Fleetwood Mac has sold more than 220 million records worldwide. The documentary will explore how the band members overcame personal and professional challenges while continuing to create music together.
The film is produced by The Kennedy/Marshall Company and White Horse Pictures. ‘Fleetwood Mac: The Chain’ will be available globally on Apple TV from January 29, 2027.
