Disney+ will premiere ‘The Pursuit: F1 Academy‘, a documentary special following women drivers competing in the all-female F1 Academy racing series globally on November 19, ahead of the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix scheduled for November 19-21.
The special will also stream on the ESPN app later this year, the platform announced yesterday. In India, Disney and Disney+ content are available on JioHotstar.
The documentary, according to a Disney statement, offers behind-the-scenes access to the 2025 F1 Academy season, following drivers Doriane Pin, Maya Weug, Chloe Chambers and Alisha Palmowski as they navigate the pressures of competition and the personal sacrifices involved in breaking into one of the most demanding sports in the world.
F1 Academy, launched by Formula 1, aims to develop young women drivers and prepare them to progress to higher levels of motorsport.
Filmed across global locations on the 2025 F1 Academy calendar, ‘The Pursuit: F1 Academy‘ captures the intensity of race weekends alongside defining moments away from the track.
The special explores ambition, perseverance and representation in a traditionally male-dominated sport, while offering insight into the teams and leadership shaping the series, including its managing director, Susie Wolff.
Produced in association with ESPN, the documentary extends ‘Fuel the Magic’, a multi-year collaboration between Disney, Formula 1 and F1 Academy that combines storytelling, racing culture and fan experiences at Grand Prix weekends worldwide.
First unveiled at the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix in 2026, the collaboration expanded at the Canadian Grand Prix to include F1 Academy, with Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck at its centre, promoting confidence, representation and the next generation of women in motorsport.
Wolff said the documentary would capture the sacrifices, setbacks and successes that form part of every driver’s journey, both on and off the track.
She expressed hope that the stories would resonate beyond motorsport and inspire young women to pursue their ambitions.
Joss Hastings, SVP-Marketing at Disney Consumer Products, said the project would extend the partnership with Formula 1 to Disney+ and ESPN, sharing the drivers’ courage, ambition and determination with audiences worldwide.
