BULLET has expanded its content portfolio by venturing into the sports genre with the launch of ‘Kit Boy to Cricket King’, which is being positioned as Kannada’s first sports microdrama series. Starring Varun Aradhya, Tejus Gowda and Abhijhna Vishwanath, the series combines the excitement of cricket with an emotional story of ambition, perseverance and self-belief.
According to a BULLET press release, the series marks the platform’s first foray into sports-themed microdramas, further strengthening its focus on creating premium short-form content for mobile-first audiences. The move reflects the growing popularity of microdrama formats among younger viewers who increasingly consume entertainment on digital platforms.
At the centre of the story is Raja, a young man from a humble background whose passion for cricket remains unwavering despite limited opportunities. Working as a kit boy and watching the game from the sidelines, Raja dreams of making it big in the sport. When he finally gets an opportunity to showcase his talent, he embarks on a journey filled with challenges, sacrifices, rivalries and victories.
Varun Aradhya plays Raja, while Tejus Gowda portrays Vihan, a gifted and privileged cricketer whose rivalry becomes a significant turning point in Raja’s life. Abhijhna Vishwanath also plays a pivotal role in the narrative. Beyond cricket, the series focuses on themes of determination, overcoming adversity and breaking social barriers.
The launch comes at a time when cricket continues to dominate public interest across India. Ahead of the release, Varun Aradhya generated buzz around the project by sharing a video during the IPL final between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Gujarat Titans. In the video, he surprised his fiancée with the first look of the series while attending the match. The clip quickly gained traction online, crossing five million views and attracting attention from cricket and entertainment fans alike.
Commenting on the launch, Azim Lalani, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer of BULLET, said the series represents an important milestone for the platform as its first sports microdrama and Kannada’s first project in the genre. He noted that while cricket serves as the backdrop, the core of the story revolves around the aspirations of young dreamers determined to rise above their circumstances.
Varun Aradhya said the story goes beyond the sport itself and focuses on believing in oneself when opportunities seem out of reach. He added that being part of Kannada’s first sports microdrama makes the project particularly special.
With authentic cricket action, cinematic storytelling and an underdog narrative at its core, ‘Kit Boy to Cricket King’ aims to set a new benchmark for sports storytelling in the rapidly growing microdrama segment.
