ZEE5 has unveiled the trailer of its much-anticipated noir thriller ‘Kennedy’, directed by Anurag Kashyap, with the film set to premiere exclusively on the streaming platform on February 20.
The release comes after the film’s acclaimed run at several international film festivals, where it drew attention for its stark visuals and intense storytelling.
According to a PTI report, ‘Kennedy’ is set against the gritty backdrop of Mumbai and follows the life of Kennedy Uday Shetty, portrayed by Rahul Bhat.
A former police officer presumed dead, Kennedy lives a double life as a cab driver by day and a contract killer by night, working for a corrupt police commissioner. The narrative traces his struggle with personal loss while navigating a world driven by crime, moral decay and institutional corruption.
The film also features Sunny Leone in a pivotal role, alongside Mohit Takalkar, Megha Burman, Aamir Dalvi, Abhilash Thapliyal and Karishma Modi in supporting roles. The trailer hints at a brooding, atmospheric journey dominated by silence, inner turmoil and survival, staying true to Kashyap’s signature noir sensibility.
As the story unfolds, ‘Kennedy’ finds himself trapped in a dangerous conspiracy involving explosives, extortion rackets and powerful forces operating in the shadows. Framed and hunted, he is pushed into a relentless pursuit of truth, revenge and ultimately, redemption. The trailer showcases stylised action sequences, haunting imagery and a raw emotional core that explores themes of loneliness, justice and the cost of uncompromising choices.
Speaking about the film, Anurag Kashyap said ‘Kennedy’ is one of the most personal projects of his career. He noted that the film’s long journey has been validated by the responses received at international festivals, adding that the trailer offers a glimpse into the world of a man who appears violent on the outside but is deeply wounded within. Kashyap said he was glad that ZEE5 is bringing the film to audiences in its raw and uncompromised form.
Rahul Bhat described playing Kennedy as a deeply transformative experience, saying the character’s loneliness, anger and vulnerability took an emotional toll but proved immensely rewarding. He added that the connection he witnessed with festival audiences has only heightened his anticipation for the film’s digital release.
Sunny Leone, who plays Charlie, said the role pushed her into an unfamiliar emotional space. She described her character as mysterious, fragile and strong, and credited Kashyap for encouraging her to trust silence over dialogue. Leone said the film challenged her in new ways and expressed excitement for audiences to finally discover the dark and compelling world of Kennedy.
With its intense performances and uncompromising narrative, ‘Kennedy’ promises a gripping noir experience when it premieres on ZEE5 later this month.
