India is set to host the AI Impact Summit from February 15 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to inaugurate the event, according to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The summit is expected to see participation from over 100 countries, marking one of the largest global gatherings focused on artificial intelligence.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan said the Prime Minister will not only inaugurate the expo but is also likely to host a dinner and address a CEO Round Table during the summit. The event is expected to draw Heads of Government from nearly 15 to 20 countries, including France. The details were shared in an ANI report.
Krishnan said several prominent global leaders have confirmed their participation, including Bill Gates. Other confirmed attendees include Dennis Hassabis, CEO of DeepMind Technologies; Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic; Shantanu Narayen, CEO of Adobe; Mark Benioff, CEO of Salesforce; Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm; and Raj Subramaniam, CEO of FedEx. Their presence underscores the summit’s growing importance in shaping the global AI discourse.
According to the MeitY Secretary, invitations were sent to nearly 140 countries, with around 15,500 registrations received so far from 136 nations. Of these, 76 countries are from the Global South, reflecting India’s focus on inclusive and equitable participation in emerging technologies. Krishnan added that more than 100 global AI leaders, including CXOs, CSOs, leading academics and thinkers, are expected to attend.
Outlining the vision behind the summit, Krishnan said the focus would be on developing AI solutions for key productive sectors such as healthcare, agriculture, governance, education and manufacturing. He explained that the summit is anchored around three guiding principles—People, Planet and Progress—which aim to ensure that AI serves humanity, protects the environment and drives inclusive growth.
These principles, he said, are being operationalised through seven thematic “Chakras” or working groups, each addressing a critical dimension of AI’s global impact. Together, they are intended to move discussions beyond broad commitments towards measurable and actionable outcomes, ensuring the benefits of AI are shared globally.
Krishnan also highlighted the scale of engagement leading up to the summit, noting that over 310 events have already been held across the world in the past 140 days. With parallel and allied programmes planned during the summit week, the total number of events is expected to touch nearly 800, reinforcing India’s ambition to position itself at the centre of global AI conversations.
