Charlie Sheen, the ‘Two and a Half Men’ star whose Hollywood career was derailed by substance abuse and highly publicised breakdowns, is set to “open up like never before” in an upcoming Netflix two-part documentary titled ‘aka Charlie Sheen’.
Releasing this September, a PTI report stated, the series will chronicle Sheen’s personal journey in his own words, while also featuring accounts from actors, friends, and crew members who may have been impacted by his past behaviour. The project, Netflix announced on its website, aims to present a candid, multi-layered view of Sheen’s rise, fall, and attempts at redemption.
The documentary will also bring together a host of familiar faces from Sheen’s life and career, including his former co-stars, friends, and ex-wife Denise Richards. Among them are ‘Two and a Half Men’ co-star Jon Cryer and the show’s creator Chuck Lorre, with whom Sheen had a widely publicised clash. Sean Penn, Chris Tucker, Heidi Fleiss, Brooke Mueller and Ramon Estevez are also set to appear, offering their perspectives on the actor’s turbulent years.
Known for his razor-sharp wit on-screen and equally notorious off-screen controversies, Sheen became one of television’s highest-paid actors before his career hit a downward spiral in 2011. With ‘aka Charlie Sheen’, viewers are promised an unfiltered look into both the meteoric highs and the chaotic lows of a man who has remained one of Hollywood’s most talked-about personalities.
