A major milestone has been achieved in India’s broadcasting sector as the GTPL Hathway Limited, which previously received permission from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) on July 12, 2024, has now successfully signed the Grant of Permission Agreement (GOPA) to operate Headend-In-The-Sky (HITS) services.
The agreement, finalized on March 27, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., grants the company the right to establish, maintain, and operate HITS Broadcasting Services for a period of 10 years.
With all necessary HITS guidelines fulfilled, this marks a significant step in expanding digital broadcasting services in India. HITS technology allows satellite-based distribution of television channels to local cable operators, enhancing the reach, efficiency, and quality of cable networks across the country.
The company’s compliance with regulatory requirements and the successful signing of the GOPA underline its commitment to transforming India’s broadcast landscape with cutting-edge technology and enhanced content distribution.
This development is expected to boost digital connectivity, improve content access, and support the government’s vision of expanding high-quality broadcasting services nationwide.
