Filmmaker Shoojit Sircar has expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the 2024 National Film Awards, highlighting the immense talent within the Indian cinema industry.
Sircar, who himself has been part of the industry for nearly two decades and won around 13 National Awards, praised the extraordinary filmmakers, performers, and technicians that make Indian cinema exceptional, IANS reported from Mumbai.
He remarked, “Such moments are indeed special when we get to see such exceptional talents being recognized by the highest honour in the country. The Indian cinema industry is full of such extraordinary makers, technicians, and performers, and I wish we get to witness more and more such remarkable creations.”
Sircar, known for critically acclaimed films such as ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Pink’, and ‘Sardar Udham’— the latter of which won five National Awards — has played a key role in shaping contemporary Indian cinema.
In another highlight from the 2024 National Film Awards, Kannada superstar Rishab Shetty was honoured with the Best Actor award for his role in the blockbuster film ‘Kantara’. After the ceremony, Shetty expressed his pride, stating, “I feel extremely proud and glad to have received the National Award as it gives recognition to the Kannada film industry.”
Shetty emphasized the impact of the award on regional cinema, noting how it motivates future generations of actors and filmmakers. He also acknowledged the responsibility that comes with receiving such a prestigious honor, adding, “It gives us the responsibility to strive hard and chase excellence.”
