Warner Bros. Discovery has officially shut down Cartoon Network’s website, marking the end of an era for fans who have long relied on the platform for free access to popular animated content.
The move is part of a broader strategy by the media giant to consolidate its digital offerings under its Max streaming service, which requires a subscription.
Visitors to the now-defunct CartoonNetwork.com are met with a message redirecting them to Max, where they can stream episodes of beloved shows like ‘Adventure Time,’ ‘The Amazing World of Gumball’, ‘Teen Titans GO!’ and ‘Steven Universe’. The closure also signals the removal of interactive games and video clips that were a website staple, leaving fans without the free entertainment options that once defined the online Cartoon Network experience.
A spokesperson for Cartoon Network commented on the decision, stating, “We are focusing on the Cartoon Network shows and social media where we find consumers are the most engaged and there is meaningful potential for growth.” This shift reflects Warner Bros. Discovery‘s intent to streamline its content delivery and capitalize on the growing subscription-based model of Max.
