Streaming giants Apple TV, Disney, Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, and Netflix together amassed 393 nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards 2026, underscoring streaming’s growing dominance in television’s top honours, including for the documentary category.
Apple TV scored a record 89 nominations, Disney led with 125, Amazon received 68, while Netflix shows earned 111 Emmy nominations.
Disney’s 125 nominations, according to a company statement, were led by ‘Paradise’, which received 23 nods, followed by ‘Only Murders in the Building’ with 22 and ‘The Bear’ with 15. The company also secured strong recognition for ‘Dying for Sex’, ‘Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show’, ‘Abbott Elementary’, ‘Andor’, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ and ‘What We Do in the Shadows’, among other titles.
Apple said it achieved a historic high of 89 nominations across 15 originals, with comedy ‘Widow’s Bay’ leading its slate with 19 nominations and drama ‘Pluribus’ earning 18 following its debut season.

“Great stories have the ability to entertain, surprise, and bring people together, and these unprecedented nominations recognize shows that have done exactly that,” Matt Cherniss, Apple TV’s head of programming, said in a statement.
Netflix said it received 111 Primetime Emmy Award nominations across 34 new and returning titles and 12 different programme categories.
Across the Netflix nods, ‘Beef’ Season 2 led with 16 nominations, followed by ‘The Beast in Me’ with 9 nominations.
‘Rafa’, which celebrates the life and times of Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal, also became the first non-English title to be nominated for Outstanding Documentary Series in Emmy’s history, the streamer asserted.
Amazon said MGM Studios and Prime Video matched their highest-ever Emmy tally with 68 nominations across 16 titles.
Recently launched ‘Spider-Noir’ topped the company’s slate with 11 nominations, while ‘Fallout’ received 10. ‘The Boys’ and ‘John Candy: I Like Me’ earned five nominations each, and spy thriller ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan: Ghost War’ secured two. Other nominated titles included ‘Survivor’, ‘The Voice’, ‘Shark Tank’, ‘DTF St. Louis’ and ‘Wednesday’.
Apple TV also pointed out that it led all networks in nominations for the Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Comedy Series categories, with top programme nominations for ‘Widow’s Bay’, ‘Shrinking’, ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’, ‘Pluribus’, ‘Slow Horses’ and ‘Your Friends & Neighbors’.
The winners of the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards are scheduled to be announced on September 14 in a glitzy show at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. ‘Law & Order: SVU’ star Mariska Hargitay will make history this year as the first non-comedian/female Emmy host in 15 years.
Incidentally, there were no contenders from India amongst the nominations in the year 2026, though last year ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ had got two nods, but had failed to win.
