Television channel Colors TV has expanded its fiction programming with the launch of ‘Juhi Mui’, a new drama that places an autistic young woman at the centre of its narrative while exploring themes of inclusion, empathy and social acceptance. The show premiered on June 29 and airs every Monday to Friday at 9.30 pm, with streaming available on JioHotstar.
The series stars Eisha Singh in the lead role of Juhi Suri, a young autistic woman blessed with an extraordinary memory and sharp legal instincts. Set within a family-run legal practice, the show follows Juhi as she navigates a world that often underestimates her abilities despite her remarkable intellect. Through her journey, ‘Juhi Mui’ raises important questions about inclusion and whether individuals should be expected to adapt to existing systems or whether society itself should evolve to become more accommodating.
The drama features an ensemble cast that includes Sanjay Suri as Juhi’s father Rajendra Suri, alongside Sai Deodhar, Ayub Khan, Krushag Ghuge and Vijayendra Kumeria. Kumeria plays Inspector Sanyam Singh, a police officer who becomes an unexpected ally in Juhi’s life and supports her pursuit of justice.
Speaking about the role, Eisha Singh described ‘Juhi Mui’ as one of the most challenging and fulfilling projects of her career. She said portraying a character who communicates differently required her to rely on subtle expressions, physical nuances and silence to convey Juhi’s rich inner world. Singh added that she felt a deep responsibility to portray the character with honesty and empathy, hoping audiences would look beyond labels and recognise an intelligent young woman who experiences life’s emotions like anyone else.
According to the actress, the show is ultimately about dignity, inclusion and understanding the positive impact autistic individuals can have on society. She expressed hope that viewers would connect with Juhi not because of her condition, but because of her humanity and resilience.
For Vijayendra Kumeria, ‘Juhi Mui’ marks a significant departure from his previous on-screen roles. The actor said playing Inspector Sanyam Singh is his first experience wearing a police uniform for a television role. He described the character as unapologetically grounded and emotionally transparent, someone who believes that systems do not become compassionate on their own and that change requires individuals willing to act with empathy.
Kumeria noted that the show highlights how empathy is not about appearances or rhetoric but about standing by people and refusing to ignore injustice. He said he hopes audiences will see ‘Juhi Mui’ not only as a legal drama but also as a story that challenges traditional ideas of strength, justice and inclusion.
With its focus on neurodiversity and representation, ‘Juhi Mui’ adds a distinctive voice to Indian television’s fiction landscape. By combining family dynamics, legal drama and a socially relevant theme, the series seeks to spark conversations around acceptance while offering viewers an emotionally engaging story anchored by a unique protagonist.
