Netflix yesterday unveiled the trailer of its upcoming courtroom drama ‘Ikka’, bringing together Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna in their first collaboration for the streaming platform, with the film set to premiere on July 10.
The trailer offers a glimpse into a high-stakes legal battle where justice, family and personal conviction collide. Directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by Alchemy Films, ‘Ikka’ centres on celebrated lawyer Arjun Mehra, played by Deol, whose principles are tested when he is compelled to defend Shauryamann Gaur, portrayed by Khanna, in a high-profile attempted murder case.
According to a Netflix statement, what begins as a courtroom battle soon evolves into a deeply personal conflict that challenges Arjun’s beliefs, relationships and the life he has built. The trailer also introduces Tillotama Shome as determined public prosecutor Madhura Banerjee and Dia Mirza as Avantika, Arjun’s wife, whose family is drawn into the fallout of the case.
The trailer also offers a glimpse into the people caught in the moral dilemmas surrounding the case. Shome’s Banerjee places her on a collision course with one of the country’s most celebrated lawyers, while Mirza’s Avantika finds herself trying to protect her family as the consequences of the case begin to seep into every corner of their lives.
Speaking about the film, Deol described ‘Ikka’ as more than a courtroom drama, calling it a story about family, relationships and the difficult choices life forces people to make.
He also said the film holds special significance as his first direct-to-streaming release, adding that Netflix would make it accessible to audiences across India and the world. Mirza said the emotional core of the film lies beneath its legal drama, while Shome said she was drawn to her character’s integrity and resilience.
The film features an ensemble cast comprising Deol, Khanna, Shome, Mirza, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Shishir Sharma and Akansha Ranjan Kapoor.
