Maharashtra’s vibrant culture, relentless spirit, and inspiring stories will take centre stage as Zee 24 TAAS, the state’s leading Marathi news channel, presents ‘Maharashtra Gaurav 2025’ on May 24 at 9pm.
The televised event, themed ‘Pride of Maharashtra, Pride of the Youth’, promises to honour individuals and communities whose achievements have elevated the state’s identity on national and global platforms.
According to a press release shared by the channel, ‘Maharashtra Gaurav 2025’ will celebrate changemakers across domains—from cinema and music to social reform and military service—showcasing the real faces behind Maharashtra’s dynamic growth and cultural pride. Zee 24 Taas continues its longstanding tradition of honouring authentic, transformative stories that mirror the values and ethos of Maharashtra’s people.
Held in the presence of esteemed leaders including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Industries Minister Shri Uday Samant, and senior leader Girish Mahajan, the evening resonated with the spirit of recognition and reflection. The dignitaries’ attendance underlined the significance of the event and the state’s ongoing commitment to promoting excellence and integrity.
Among the standout honourees was actress Shriya Pilgaonkar, who received the ‘Maharashtra Ratna’ for her impressive versatility across languages and platforms. With acting credentials from FTII and Harvard Summer School, and a background in classical music, Shriya’s journey reflects the emerging global face of Marathi talent. Another awardee, social entrepreneur Raju Kendre, was recognised for his transformative educational initiatives via the Eklavya India Foundation, empowering rural and tribal youth in Maharashtra and Central India.
A particularly moving moment was the recognition of Apashinge village in Satara—fondly called ‘Military Apashinge’—where almost every household has contributed a soldier, many of them decorated with gallantry awards like the Shaurya Chakra and Sena Medal. The village’s unparalleled legacy is under consideration to be officially designated as Maharashtra’s first ‘Military Village’.
Music maestro Shankar Mahadevan was honoured with the Maharashtra Gaurav award. Reflecting on the occasion, he said, “This award is a profound reminder of the cultural strength and artistic spirit that this state nurtures. I draw strength from its diverse musical roots—from classical ragas to folk rhythms. This award belongs as much to the culture that shaped me as it does to me.”
Adding contemporary resonance to tradition, the band Abhang Repost—consisting of six young artists—was also felicitated for modernising devotional Abhangs and presenting them on global stages. Their unique fusion has helped preserve Maharashtra’s rich spiritual heritage while expanding its reach to newer audiences.
Speaking on the event, Kamlesh Sutar, Editor of Zee 24 Taas, said, “At a time when we are redefining what progress and pride mean for Maharashtra, Maharashtra Gaurav 2025 stands as a relevant and powerful platform to spotlight those who truly make a difference.” Karan Abhishek Singh, CEO of Zee Media Corporation Limited, echoed the sentiment, stating, “As we navigate a new era of digital and cultural transformation, Zee Media continues to stand by its mission to inform, inspire, and elevate.”
With a strong mix of artistic, social, and historical narratives, ‘Maharashtra Gaurav 2025’ promises to be more than just a ceremony—it is a tribute to the soul of the state. Viewers can tune in to Zee 24 Taas on May 24 at 9 pm to witness an evening of pride, passion, and purpose that reflects what it truly means to be a Maharashtrian today.
