Telefonica Global has taken decisive steps to combat piracy and protect its valuable content investments. To bolster their ongoing efforts in the LATAM region, the Fraud Prevention team at Telefonica has partnered with NAGRA, a Kudelski Group company renowned for its content protection and multiscreen television solutions. The alliance aims to supplement existing anti-piracy operations with NAGRA’s Anti-Piracy services.
As per a press release, seeking a potent combination of cutting-edge technologies and a comprehensive case file history, Telefonica aims to expand its global anti-piracy endeavors. The NAGRA solution offers innovative methods to identify, monitor, and counter pirate activities, utilizing sophisticated AI-powered analytics to alert Telefonica to illicit patterns.
Delia Álvarez, head of the Global Fraud Prevention Area at Telefonica, emphasized the significance of combating content piracy due to its direct impact on their performance. By deepening their collaboration with NAGRA, known for its prowess in identifying and remediating pirate activity on a global scale, Telefonica’s Fraud Prevention teams gain valuable threat intelligence to identify and disrupt large-scale piracy networks effectively.
NAGRA’s specialized anti-piracy solution, tailored to combat media and entertainment piracy, will complement Telefonica’s existing content protection measures, which already include watermarking and other elements from the NAGRA Active Streaming Protection framework.
Pascal Metral, VP of Anti-Piracy Intelligence, Investigation, and Litigation at NAGRA, expressed pride in expanding the partnership with Telefonica to offer additional anti-piracy services. He reaffirmed NAGRA’s commitment to help customers safeguard their revenues and substantial content investments by actively targeting and dismantling piracy networks within the Telefonica ecosystem.
