Stuttgart

The 23rd edition of the Stuttgart Indian Film Festival is set to celebrate the richness and diversity of Malayalam cinema with a special focus on films from Kerala. Organisers have announced that this year’s festival will feature more than 70 feature films, documentaries and short films exploring themes ranging from identity and tradition to politics and social transformation.

According to a PTI report yesterday, recognised as Europe’s largest showcase of Indian cinema, the festival will take place in Stuttgart from July 23 to 26, bringing together filmmakers, artists and cinema enthusiasts from across the world.

Over the years, the event has emerged as an important platform for presenting contemporary Indian storytelling to international audiences.

The festival will open with ‘Eko: From the Infinite Chronicles of Kuriachan’, directed by Dinjith Ayyathan. The thriller follows the search for a mysterious dog breeder in central Kerala and promises a gripping narrative that blends suspense with regional storytelling traditions.

Festival organisers said the line-up has been designed to offer audiences a broad perspective on contemporary Indian cinema while giving special attention to Malayalam films that continue to earn critical acclaim both in India and internationally.
