Grab your bikes and get ready, because the ‘Stranger Things’ series finale is officially heading to the big screen. Fans of the hit Netflix show will be able to watch the highly anticipated final episode in select theatres across the US and Canada later this year, marking a first-of-its-kind event for the franchise.
According to a Netflix press release, limited theatrical screenings of the finale will take place in more than 350 theatres, beginning December 31 at 5 p.m. The screenings will coincide with the global premiere of the final episode on Netflix, allowing fans to experience the end of Hawkins’ story both at home and on the big screen. The special run will continue through January 1, 2026.
“We’re beyond excited that fans will have the chance to experience the final episode of Stranger Things in theatres — it’s something we’ve dreamed about for years, and we’re so grateful to Ted, Bela, and everyone at Netflix for making it happen,” series creators Matt and Ross Duffer told Tudum. “Getting to see it on the big screen, with incredible sound, picture, and a room full of fans, feels like the perfect — dare we say bitchin’ — way to celebrate the end of this adventure.”
While additional details, including ticketing information and specific theatre locations, will be announced later, fans can already look forward to one last epic showdown in Hawkins. Stranger Things 5 begins in the fall of 1987, with the town still scarred by the opening of the Rifts. As Vecna’s whereabouts remain unknown, Eleven and her friends must regroup for their most dangerous mission yet — to find and destroy him once and for all.
According to the official synopsis, “Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.”
The finale will bring back familiar faces, including Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, and Jamie Campbell Bower, among others.
Beyond the finale screenings, Netflix is rolling out a full-scale celebration for fans. Events include a Stranger Things–themed bike ride through Los Angeles, new Season 5 Funko Pop! figures, exclusive merchandise, and special showings of the Broadway play Stranger Things: The First Shadow in November.
‘Stranger Things 5’ will premiere in three parts — the first four episodes on November 26, followed by three episodes on Christmas Day, with the grand finale arriving on New Year’s Eve — both on Netflix and in select theatres for one unforgettable goodbye to Hawkins.
