Ajay Devgn is all set to bring back the madness and mayhem with Son of Sardar 2, the much-awaited sequel to his 2012 comedy hit. The film is now officially slated for a worldwide theatrical release on August 1, 2025, the makers announced on Saturday, ending speculation around its revised release timeline.
The film was earlier scheduled to release on July 25, but the date has been pushed by a week. The announcement was made via a post shared on the official Instagram handle of the production house, Jio Studios. “The Laughter Riot Just Got A New Date. ‘Son of Sardar 2’ will now release in cinemas on 1st August 2025 worldwide,” the caption read, accompanied by new promotional artwork.
According to a report by UNI, the film is helmed by acclaimed director Vijay Kumar Arora and features a vibrant ensemble cast including Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Pandey, Ravi Kishan, Vindu Dara Singh, and Sanjay Mishra alongside Devgn in the lead. With this star-studded lineup and a reputation for high-energy comedy, the sequel is expected to be a crowd-puller.
Son of Sardar, which hit screens in 2012, was known for its slapstick humour, action-packed sequences, and Punjabi flavour. It was a box office success and has since garnered a cult fan base. The sequel promises to deliver a new chapter in the franchise, retaining its comic essence while adding fresh characters and twists.
While details of the plot are still under wraps, the film is expected to stay true to its roots with a heavy dose of family entertainment, quirky characters, and laugh-out-loud moments. This time around, audiences can expect a bigger canvas and a more elaborate storyline, with Ajay Devgn once again at the heart of the chaos.
With the new release date falling just ahead of the Independence Day holiday period, ‘Son of Sardar 2’ is likely aiming for a strong box office run, capitalizing on festive footfalls and family audiences.
