JioStar, a prominent entity under the Jio Platforms umbrella, has appointed two respected industry stalwarts—NP Singh and Bharat N. Anand—as Independent Directors to its board. The move marks a strategic step in fortifying the company’s leadership as it continues to deepen its footprint across India’s dynamic digital and media landscape.
NP Singh, the former Managing Director and CEO of Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI), brings with him more than three decades of experience in shaping India’s broadcast and media landscape. Widely credited for transforming SPNI into one of India’s premier media companies, Singh is known for his strategic vision, governance expertise, and nuanced understanding of content-driven consumer engagement. His presence on the board is expected to guide JioStar as it builds cutting-edge content and platform offerings.
Joining him is Bharat N. Anand, Vice Provost for Advances in Learning at Harvard University and the Henry R. Byers Professor of Business Administration. An internationally recognized expert on media strategy and digital transformation, Anand is also the author of the critically acclaimed book ‘The Content Trap’. He has advised several global media firms and policymakers, making his appointment a significant asset for JioStar as it continues to scale in a competitive digital environment.
JioStar welcomed the appointments and emphasized the board’s growing emphasis on strategic depth and global expertise. “As JioStar builds toward a future shaped by disruptive innovation, immersive content, and technology-led experiences, the insights and experience brought by NP Singh and Bharat N. Anand will be invaluable,” the company said.
These new appointments are seen as a forward-looking move to help guide JioStar through its next chapter of growth, including platform innovation, content expansion, and deeper user engagement across geographies.
