Actor Sanya Malhotra is set to reprise her role in ‘Pagglait 2’, as the makers officially greenlight the sequel to the critically appreciated film. The project marks another addition to the growing slate of sequels emerging from the streaming space, with expectations already building around how the story will evolve.
According to a UNI report, the sequel will continue the collaboration between Sikhya Entertainment and Netflix India, a partnership that has previously delivered several acclaimed documentaries and feature films. The film will once again be directed by Umesh Bist, who helmed the original, and is expected to take the narrative forward with a fresh perspective.
While it remains unclear whether ‘Pagglait 2’ will directly continue the storyline of the first film or explore a new narrative within the same thematic space, the sequel is expected to retain the unique mix of humour and emotional depth that defined the original. Production is likely to begin between August and September 2026.
The sequel also reflects Sikhya Entertainment’s continued focus on content-driven storytelling. Led by Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain, the production house has built a strong reputation with projects like ‘The Elephant Whisperers’, ‘The Lunchbox’, and ‘Kathal’. ‘Pagglait’ now becomes the second Sikhya film to get a sequel, following the announcement of ‘Kill 2’.
At the same time, Netflix India is expanding its own lineup of sequels, with projects like ‘Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga 2’ also in the pipeline. With Sanya Malhotra returning to a role that resonated strongly with audiences, ‘Pagglait 2’ is expected to carry forward the film’s distinctive voice while offering a fresh take on its themes.
