Filmmaker and choreographer Remo D’Souza is reportedly gearing up to return to the dance film space with a new project, likely to be titled ‘ABCD 3’. The development signals a possible revival of one of Bollywood’s most recognised dance-based franchises.
According to a UNI report, the film is currently in the development stage, with Remo D’Souza and his team working on the screenplay after locking in a core idea. The project is expected to be produced by Amit Chandrra of Trigger Happy Studios, though an official announcement is still awaited.
Sources suggest that the filmmaker is approaching the project with a fresh perspective, keeping in mind the evolving tastes of audiences and the growing exposure to global dance styles. The film is being envisioned to connect with Gen Z and Gen Alpha viewers, reflecting how dance and content consumption patterns have significantly changed over the years.
The original ‘ABCD – Any Body Can Dance’, released in 2013, stood out for its youthful energy and choreography-driven narrative, despite not featuring major stars. It went on to become a successful franchise, with ‘ABCD 2’, starring Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, achieving greater commercial success.
There is also speculation that ‘ABCD 3’ could continue the storyline from the earlier films, with some characters from the original instalment potentially returning. However, no confirmation has been made on the cast or narrative direction at this stage.
Remo D’Souza, who began his career as a choreographer, transitioned into filmmaking with the Bengali film ‘Lal Pahare’r Katha’ in 2007. He made his Hindi directorial debut with ‘F.A.L.T.U.’ and went on to helm films like ‘A Flying Jatt’, ‘Race 3’ and ‘Street Dancer 3D’. His most recent project, ‘Be Happy’, was released on Amazon Prime Video.
With the dance genre continuing to evolve, ‘ABCD 3’ could mark a significant return for Remo D’Souza, potentially bringing back a franchise that once redefined dance films in mainstream Hindi cinema.
