The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially locked the dates for the 99th and 100th editions of the Academy Awards, setting the stage for two milestone ceremonies in the coming years. The 99th Oscars will be held on March 14, 2027, followed by the landmark 100th edition on March 5, 2028.
According to an ANI report, both ceremonies will take place at the iconic Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and will be broadcast live on ABC at 7 p.m. ET. The telecast will continue to reach audiences in over 200 regions worldwide, maintaining its global appeal.
These editions will also mark the end of an era, as they will be the final Academy Awards ceremonies to air on ABC before the broadcast transitions to YouTube starting in 2029. The Academy has additionally confirmed a venue shift, with the ceremony moving from the Dolby Theatre to the Peacock Theatre from 2029 onwards, where it is expected to be hosted for the next decade.
The announcement comes at a time when ABC is strengthening its lineup of marquee events. The network is set to broadcast the Grammy Awards in February 2027 under a new long-term agreement, alongside Super Bowl LXI in the same month, indicating a strategic push in premium live programming.
Viewership for the most recent Oscars ceremony stood at 17.86 million across ABC and Hulu, slightly lower than the previous year’s 19.7 million, reflecting ongoing shifts in audience consumption patterns. Despite this, anticipation remains high for the upcoming awards seasons, with several major films already generating early buzz.
The Academy has also outlined key dates for the 2026–2027 awards cycle. The eligibility window will run from January 1 to December 31, 2026, with nominations set to be announced on January 21, 2027. Details regarding the hosts for both ceremonies are yet to be revealed.
