Netflix Korea unveils emotion-led, genre-rich content slate for 2026

Netflix has lifted the curtain on its Korea content slate for 2026, outlining an ambitious year packed with romance, thrillers, reality shows, comedies and genre-bending stories designed to reflect every emotion of everyday life.

As K-content continues to be the most-watched non-English programming on the platform globally, Netflix is doubling down on its long-standing partnership with Korea’s creative ecosystem to deliver stories that resonate deeply with audiences worldwide.

According to a Netflix statement, the 2026 Korean slate has been carefully curated around five emotional experiences romance, emotional depth, thrill, laughter and imagination — spanning series, films and unscripted formats. The streaming platform said the upcoming titles aim to offer both familiarity and surprise, while reinforcing Korea’s position as a global storytelling powerhouse.

Romance sets the tone for the year, with several series exploring love in fresh and unconventional ways. Recently premiered titles such as ‘Can This Love Be Translated?’, which follows a romance between a multilingual interpreter and a global celebrity, and ‘No Tail to Tell’, centred on a fiery relationship between a nine-tailed fox and a star footballer, lead the slate.

Upcoming shows like ‘Boyfriend on Demand’, set in a world of virtual dating subscriptions, and ‘Our Sticky Love’, revolving around an unexpected co-living situation, continue to explore modern relationships.

Romantic comedy elements are further heightened in ‘Take Charge of My Heart’, featuring a chaebol heir with an artificial heart, and ‘Sold Out On You’, which pairs a grounded farmer with a television host battling insomnia. Reality romance also returns, with ‘Singles Inferno’ making history with its fifth season and ‘Better Late Than Single’ coming back for a second outing.

Stories with emotional depth and intensity form another strong pillar of the slate. Films such as Pavane delve into human connection and healing, while ‘Possible Love (WT)’, directed by Lee Chang-dong and featuring an acclaimed ensemble cast, stands out as one of the year’s most anticipated releases. On the series front, ‘Notes from the Last Row’ examines obsession and genius within academia, while ‘The Scandal’ reimagines forbidden desire in the Joseon era. Folklore-inspired suspense arrives with ‘Mousetrap’, and ‘Tantara’ brings together celebrated creatives to depict the harsh realities of Korea’s entertainment industry across decades. The globally popular ‘Culinary Class Wars’ also returns, evolving into a team-based competition in its third season.

Thriller and action fans can expect high-stakes entertainment throughout the year. Returning favourites such as ‘Agents of Mystery Season 2’ and ‘Devil’s Plan Season 3’ promise more complex missions and psychological mind games. New titles like ‘The Art of Sarah’, ‘Teach You a Lesson and Road’ (WT) explore crime, justice and moral tension, while Bloodhounds is set to raise the bar with a harder-hitting second season.

For lighter moments, Netflix Korea’s 2026 slate also leans into comedy and feel-good programming. ‘Husbands in Action’ brings together a woman’s current and former husbands in a high-energy rescue mission, while Mission: Cross 2 builds on its successful blend of action and marital comedy. Reality entertainment continues to be a strong draw, with shows like ‘Ready or Not: Texas’, ‘Jae-seok’s B&B Rules!’ and ‘Take a Hike!’ offering humour, travel and unexpected challenges. ‘Kian’s Bizarre B&B’ also returns with its signature offbeat charm.

Rounding off the slate are stories driven by imagination and spectacle. ‘The WONDERfools’ introduces neighbourhood misfits who gain superpowers, while ‘If Wishes Could Kill’ marks Netflix’s first Korean young-adult horror series.
